Charmaine's Profile


Charmaine Allen started her career at Nedbank International in 1985.  Since then she has worked and consulted on strategic implementation in approximately 20 different organisations ranging from financial services, investment houses, employee benefits, tourism and various other types of private institutions. She is fiercely passionate about effective Intelligent Leadership and strategic implementation and loves transferring knowledge to individuals and teams.  Her motivation and drive is that best practices do create success.  Seeing that success is what has spurred her on to create a website that enables leaders to not only leave a legacy, but to be more successful in implementing strategy while ensuring greater ROI.

She strongly believes in good risk management techniques and is astounded at how risk management is seen as a tick box exercise.  Risk management is everyone’s business at every level and risk must be conducted correctly and transparently.

Charmaine has been implementing projects in various industries using a multitude of approaches for over 17 years.  In 2006 she qualified as a project management professional providing her with the knowledge and later the experience of utilising many tools and techniques that she applies within project teams to successfully implement projects and therefore increase organisational performance. Her first experience in scrum was implementing an employee benefits system in 2003.  She has since worked on agile projects. Regardless of the project approach used (waterfall or agile) Charmaine understands the importance of coaching the team to success. In order to provide leadership coaching effectively, not only on the scrum approach but also on collaboration, self-organisation and team decision making, Charmaine embarked on leadership coaching techniques and approaches approved by the International Coaching Federation. She has been leading teams since 1995 either at a supervisory level or at a project level and she understands that individuals make up a team and personal mastery plays a vital role in the phases of team development.  She is also a qualified AgilePM trainer through APMG and has conducted Agile training and various project management training either on a full time or part time basis since 2008. Her experience compiled with her absolute understanding of various approaches (Lean, Kanban, Scrum, SAFe, DSDM, Risk and Quality Management)  which supports her training and coaching passion.

Charmaine has also come to realise that very few truly understand the quality trilogy.  She is a firm believer that quality is planned for and not something that we test-in or inspect-in.  For every organisation to have long term sustainability, quality must become a mind-set, an attitude, a culture, that is driven by individuals and teams.   Quality is quantitative in every aspect.

Charmaine believes that every department, business unit or functional area cannot work in isolation and must work in unity to create, maintain and sustain business value.  The business is driven by leaders who must create great relationships with direct reports, peers and others if they are to ensure success and create business value.  People are highly complex and unique individuals.  Talent leadership, team leadership, change leadership, strategic and critical thinking along with emotional intelligence are drivers of sustainability. This must be achieved through a goal driven attitude, through relationship building and a desire to serve others.

In her journey over the past two decades, Charmaine has come to realise that there is a reason why only 33% of executives ever realise their full potential and therefore why only 30% of organisations ever implement strategy. To be a leader means one is already successful.   To be an Intelligent Leader one can be more successful and create benefits for one and all, thus leaving a legacy.

Charmaine believes that by maximising leadership traits, individual and team capabilities can be harnessed and polished to create the right mind-set and culture that is required to creating business value, customer value, social value and shareholder value.
